Wukong describes her as "... You're kind, strong, beautiful... The Mystic Realm couldn't ask for a better princess!" Sanzang lives up to these ideals of a model person, always ready to lend a hand and jump into the fray to help someone in need. She gives very little thought for her own well-being, putting the needs and cares of others before her own. This can cause her to neglect herself or wind up in life-threatening situations, but as long as others are being helped she's fine with it. This does make her rather reckless; Sanzang's incredibly quick-thinking and can come up with plans and ideas on the fly, but she's more likely to physically get involved herself if it doesn't look the other person can last until her plan takes action. She's also reluctant to accept repayment for her good deeds, believing it unnecessary, though she will take them out of politeness. One of Sanzang's biggest traits is that she doesn't judge others; she always wants to believe in the good of other people and will give numerable second chances to those that may not deserve them. There are very few people that would ever earn her actual hatred-- pity, yes, but she's very empathetic and tries to see everyone's point of vie. One of her stand-out quotes from Journey West is, "To me, the most important thing is what I do, not what I am." She doesn't care if someone's human, demon, or anything in-between, she firmly believes more that actions speak louder than words. Beyond that, Sanzang tries hard to keep up a cheerful front. Even when the world around her is crumbling, she continues to smile and dance and encourage everyone to look on the bright side of things. As she tells Ling Tong in one of their dialogues "It's true, this world was created by the despair brought forth by Orochi, but it has its share of beautiful sights as well!" However, even she is deeply troubled by Wukong's involvement with Orochi, and desires nothing more than to rescue him and bring him back home. She also thinks wistfully back on her journey to India and misses her friends dearly. Despite coming across so naive, it's mostly just an act. She's traveled to India and back and spent some time up in the Mystic Realm with the other immortals, she's well aware of the ugliness in the world and in peoples' hearts--Sanzang just chooses to believe the best in people and the world and trusts the people will inherently do the right thing. Playful and a bit clueless at times, Sanzang's sort of bulldozes over people like a freight train of enthusiasm, always trying to pull them into things and make them enjoy life. She's rather easily duped however, and can easily fall into enemy traps with the promises of helping someone or of seeing Wukong again. But in matters of philosophy and the like, Sanzang is rather wise and freely offers a shoulder for leaning on and advice as needed. Despite being a skilled fighter, Sanzang is on the more pacifist side-- at least, when compared to other members of her party and the other Mystics. She prefers trying diplomacy first, but has no troubles beating someone into submission if that fails. Out of all of the versions of Sanzo, Sanzang is one of the few that actually has a direct style of combat. Powers and Abilities: She can use healing magic! She's also capable of floating and 'gliding' for short distances. Her dancing imbues strength and good luck to the people she dances for along with healing them and making them feel rested, and she's capable of using a special chant to control Wukong/Goku's circlet, causing him pain when she uses it. http://koei.wikia.com/wiki/Sanzang#Gameplay a moveset for her can be found here. Other than that she specializes in a dance-like style of fighting, using her watersleeves as weapons. It's implied she uses some kind of magic on them in some way because otherwise whacking someone with some silk sleeves isn't going to actually do any damage, whereas Sanzang is capable of taking out whole armies using just her sleeves as weapons. She's a fairly skilled martial artist. Illusions and the like also have no effect on her, she can see through even the most complex of them with ease. Inventory: just her clothes |
